The cost of obesity is rising and saving billions can be realized thru nutrition programs. Recent estimates from Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation show adult obesity rates in 2030 could surpass 60 percent in 13 states, and at least 44 percent in every state. What are we waiting for?
“The Orange County Department of Education for Healthy Kids & Schools is very concerned about the current health and fitness of Orange County children and the impact it amy have on current academic performance and future success. Students fitness scores are highly correlated with test scores and classroom behavior. Only 39% of Orange County 5th graders passed the State Fitness Test last year, and that number drops to 22% for low-income and Hispanic/Latino kids, who have the highest obesity rates (40%) in the county”
